WEST HIGH ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DESCENDANTS

The West End High School Alumni Scholarship for direct descendants of West High alumni is now The Julie Weiland Waters West High Alumni Scholarship, named in memory of Julie, Class of 1960, who was instrumental in founding the Alumni Association.  Beginning in 2023, one scholarship in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded. Major funding for the scholarship comes from a bequest from the estate of Ralph Granville Pilsk, Class of 1961.This will continue for through 2026 until the total scholarship amount has been awarded.  A generous bequest from the estate of Phil Harris, class of 1963, has also been deposited in the Vanguard Fund which maintains the scholarship investments.

CONTRATULATIONS TO ANDREW WILLIAM MOSER, GRANDSON OF BILL MOSER, CLASS OF 1966, FOR BEING THIS YEAR'S RECIPIENT OF THE JULIE WEILAND WATERS ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP.

A new scholarship in memory of Roy L. and Mildred Harbison McDonald, both of whom graduated in the Class of 1948, has been established by their son, Shannon McDonald, as a bequest from their estate.    The awards will consist of two $5,000 scholarships to be given in 2023.  The criteria for this scholarship is the same as the criteria for the Julie Weiland Waters scholarship.
